You are required to submit an annotated bibliography, position paper, and a presentation on a public policy issue in Texas.
Purpose: The purpose of this project is to 1) give the student an opportunity to explore an issue in Texas, 2) give the student the necessary tools to develop and prepare an annotated bibliography and produce a well-thought out position paper, and 3) assist the student in developing his or hir research, analytical, and presentation skills.
Topic: The topic varies depending on the level and effort of the research that you are putting into this project. Your topic must be a public policy that you are willing to change or public policy that you want to propose to the Texas Legislature. The level of topics can range from legalization of controlled substances to providing adequate education methods in public schools.
Annotated Bibliography: You will write and prepare an annotated bibliography. Consider this as your rough draft. This will contain all the primary sources and secondary sources that will be used for the position paper. This annotated bibliography must confirm to the Modern Language Association or the American Psychological Association. It must include a minimum of eight (8) sources that provides support and counter arguments to your position on the selected public policy issue.
The Annotated Bibliography is due October 14, 2018 at 11:59pm on the Blackboard!! This is worth 100 out of the 220 points allotted!!!
Position Paper: This is the most important part of the paper. The paper must be six (6) full pages and no longer than eight (8) full pages. This does not include the required title page and the work citied page. The title page will include the public policy issue, the student’s name and the course information. The paper must be in 12-point font, Times New Roman, and have on (1) inch margins. The format must be either in the MLA or APA format throughout the entire assignment.
