From this video, it is really interesting that human can be easy to get sick from lacking nutrition, or clean water source, and giving too much calories. Scientists had a hard time to find out about the reason why children get blind in Africa. Until they knew that vitamin A could help children having healthier life. However, not everyone can be able to receive vitamin A for their children, and they needed a better education to understand the important of vitamin A children health. For clean water, everyone needs clean water to drink and to keep healthy. However, many countries do not have enough finance to build a good drinking water system. Government had to work harder to provide clean water to everyone. Giving vitamin A to the public, or building a safety drinking water is easier than changing people’s eating habit. In United State, many people have obesity, and it costs millions dollars in medical each year. People eat too much bad food, and too much calories. So, people gains weight out of control. It can cause heart disease, and other health disease. However, government and doctors cannot force people to lose weight. People have to change their eating habit, doing more excited, and eating healthier. Government can provide excited classes, but it would be up to people to go to do it. Human health is not just about the disease, it can relate to bad habit to cause disease. Government can create organization to help them, but they have to work together to be them healthy. From chapter 8, public data can give government the exact location to focus on. Government should do some surveys to see what public opinion and concern about, so they can understand better about the problem.

In this video, RX for Survival: Back to basics has many components of public health which need attention. For example, in Southern Asia children have night blindness which is a disease that occurs in poor people and malnourished children. If the disease worsens the child will become truly blind. An Opthmologist had a solution for this disease to administer Vitamin A capsules orally to the children. Dr. Sommer collected and analyzed data which are called health statistics. In our book “statistics are a major role in public health’s assessment to help detect new health threats, and to plan public health programs as well as evaluate their success “which is what Dr. Sommer’s planned to do and succeeded. In addition, Dr. Sommer chose Nepal to prove his case which he dosed 30,000 children with the Vitamin A capsule to cure their night blindness. Besides night blindness, clean water and sanitation are another public health issue which needs attention in the third world countries.
