Stereotypes

Gender stereotyping is an all too common occurrence within American society and culture. Often, we hear of the “dumb jock” associated, most typically, with male sports figures or the “drama queen,” whom is often considered a woman. Discuss where you believe such stereotypes occur, why they persist, what may be going on to challenge them, if you, ultimately, believe this will be successful, and how you believe we should challenge such stereotypes. How do you do so in your everyday life? Do you believe such stereotypes or participate in their creation and longevity? (Choose one or two stereotypes to work with-don’t try to tackle them all!

 You may also consider using a few examples from pop culture to illustrate your points. Remember to keep the essay formal. No use of “I” or “you” should be found within the essay.) Use research, 2-3 sources, in your work.
