All Stanford dissertations and theses are indexed by SearchWorks. (In the webpage, click on the “Dissertations theses” link under Featured sources. Limit any google listing by selecting “Thesis/Dissertation” under Genre within the left column.)
Most Stanford dissertations written between 1989 and 2009 can be found as PDFs from Proquest. You have access to these from Dissertations Theses @ Stanford or in the Searchworks record.
When the thesis or dissertation was filed inside a gifs (this method was available beginning in November 2009) it might not be indexed within the Dissertations Theses @ Stanford database, but it’ll be accessible via a direct link within the SearchWorks record and from Google. When the student chosen embargo limitations, a number of or even the entire dissertation might not be available for approximately 5 years following the submission date.

Find dissertations and theses using their company universities
Several dissertation databases are indexed by SearchWorks. Two excellent sources are:
- ProQuest Dissertations Theses Global database is really a “searchable and browsable database of dissertations and theses from around the globe, spanning from 1743 to the current day.”
- OCLC WorldCat lists most dissertations for many universites and colleges within the U . s . States and Canada and a lot of from around the globe. There’s additionally a public form of WorldCat .
Observe that dissertations filed digitally might not be indexed.
There’s also a few Internet sources that may help you find dissertations using their company institutions:
- The Networked Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations (NDLTD) Union Catalog contains greater than a million records of electronic theses and dissertations in the early 1900s to the current.
