1. Topic with date and partner (possibly) for presenting will be determined during class sessions #1.
2. Research additional sources related to the topic.
3. Prepare creative delivery of topic.

6. Day of presentation: Email a reference list and final PowerPoint presentation to the faculty. On your reference list, please mark with an asterisk which article you found most helpful. This will be used to keep the suggested reading list for student presentations for future semesters up-to-date.
Presentations are to be 40 minutes in length and should include a class activity that promotes synthesis of information. Please see the grading guide for point distribution. A failure to present on your scheduled night will automatically result in a 10% deduction of points. This includes illness (student or family member), childcare issues, or work circumstances. In the event of a death or hospitalization, an exception may be granted (please see instructor as circumstances arise).
Grading criteria
Purpose/objectives: Student will utilize peer-reviewed literature on a nursing leadership topic and present findings to classmates. Evaluation, analysis, and discussion of the topic will be included in the presentation. Creative approach will be used to promote critical thinking and participation of classmates.

Introduction/Purpose Is Identified
Speaker clearly identifies the purpose – what they want the audience to believe, remember, or do when the talk is finished. THREE learning objectives are identified. Thesis is clearly stated.
Current Research Is Presented
A minimum of 5 peer-reviewed articles are used (2010-present).
Speaker summarizes recent findings on topic, including trends and “hot topics”. At least one ethical issue is identified.
Critical thinking skills are demonstrated through identification of nursing implications, controversies, and dilemmas.
Implications for nursing leadership are presented.
Conclude this section by restating your thesis statement. Identify if thesis is affirmed or disproved.
Provide a reference list in APA format faculty in an electronic format (email a Word doc or PDF). Please indicate on your reference list which article you found most helpful.
Learning Activity Is Facilitated
After current research is presented, speaker leads the audience in a learning activity. This activity is to be interactive and should engage the audience in critical thinking and discussion. Examples of activities include case studies, small group discussions with guiding questions, quizzes, games, etc.
Presentation Style
Speaker is poised, clear, articulate, enthusiastic, confident, uses a proper volume, speaks at a steady rate, has good posture, and uses eye contact.
Presentation is a planned conversation, paced for audience understanding, and is not read off a paper.
PowerPoint Presentation
Slides are visually appealing and easy to read with limited text on the slide. Slides capture the audience’s attention. Citations are at the bottom of the slide. The presentation is submitted electronically to course faculty (emailed).
