Project synopsis
This coursework will assess your knowledge of the three parallel strands of Architectural Technology as incorporated into a non-domestic scale building:
Structures
For this you will be looking at the structural systems that you have incorporated in to your design work to ensure the building can be supported in the terrain of the site and to resist all loads to which it is subjected.
Buildings Fabric Design
For this element you will consider the palette of materials used and the methods used to bind them together to produce the functional and aesthetic values you require in your building
Environmental Design
Here you will be looking at three key areas. An environmental strategy to ensure comfort in the building, the building services used to achieve this strategy and how sustainability is ensured in the overall scheme
This coursework represents 50% of the assessment for this module the remaining half will be assessed by an online test.
Project/Assessment requirements:
Reflective Journal logging activities and decisions made related to research carried out on an aspect of building technology relating activities to the construction of non-domestic buildings and forward to inclusion in design projects.
Project/Assessment Task:

You are to write and submit an illustrated report in the form of a booklet, A4 sized, word count 2250, or equivalent. This work must be in digital format and submitted via the assignment section for this module on UniLearn.
Formative feedback

Assessment breakdown:
Marks will be awarded for the production of a well presented and well-structured Report that addresses the above requirements related to the selected technology.
Note 10% of the marks are allocated for good use of English, clarity of presentation and for not exceeding more than or less than 10% of the stated word requirement.
