Individual paper and presentation on the current public health economic problem of major challenge in health care
- Individual paper & Presentation (20%): Students will be responsible for submitting one Research Paper (about
10 pages) that result from research on a particular current public health economics problem or major challenge in
health care. The topics should be related to our textbook (S&N) chapter topics which are presented in Page 5
of this syllabus. The paper should frame a health services/ care problem or challenge in an articulate fashion, make
sure that it is supported through adequate literature assessment, online public data, synthesize that literature and
data to draw out key findings, and explain the implications of the problem or issue for health services and health care.
The paper will highlight potential outcomes, solutions, and policy proposals. The student will end the paper with
conclusions and recommendations. Below are the components and due dates:
Abstract (Sep. 17) (5%): On Sep. 17, students will submit one page written summary (about 100 words) of
their topic, research question, and key outcomes of interests on canvas.
First draft of Paper (Oct. 29) (5%): The first draft of paper will be submitted on Canvas.
Final paper (Nov. 18 ) (5%): Should incorporate all constructive feedback
Posting Slides of Final Paper (Nov. 26) (5%): 5-6 slides which includes research questions, key
outcomes of interests (e.g., Quadruple Aim), results, limitation, conclusions and policy implications.
