This kind of model is thought of disease as a condition. In this model, an individual is focused on curing disabling condition.
Ottawa Charter Model of Health
It is a model similar to a bio-medical model. It views illness as a deficit. The illness itself restrict an individual’s functioning or ability to achieve functional activities.
Social Model of Health
It is a kind of model which concentrates on issues faced by people during illness. It does not focus on impairments of a people. In this model, the activities of persons are restricted not by deficit but by the environment. Further, issues are a value of absence of social companies

Difference between Social Model of Health and Bio-medical Model:

The bio-medical model of health is a conceptual model of illness which contains biological factors and social factor to understand medical illness or disorder. Moreover, bio-medical model views the human as a machine. If a human is affected with a disease they are required to treated.
The social model of health is not popular as a bio-medical model. Social model focuses on behavior and lifestyle of people as well as stresses and motivates personal control. Cure of illness or disease of social model is not direct. This model recognizes influence on the health of social and environmental factors. Moreover, the social model of health sees a body as a complete rather than single part of a body. In most of the facets, social model a bio-medical model is distinctive. Both the models promote health. But still, their broadcast towards making people understand is different.
It is clear that bio-medical model and social model of health has a crucial impact on the health promotion. It is clear that social model provides a complete approach to health by seeing environment and lifestyle. The social model aims to prevent disease before it appears. Preferably both bio-medical and social models work individually to offer best health care.
