Answer the following question (a variation on textbook question 4.3).
Question
Visit the website of one of the following A-list film festivals:
https://www.festival-cannes.com/en/
https://www.berlinale.de/en/HomePage.html
http://www.labiennale.org/en/cinema/2018
Visit the website of a smaller regional festival of your choosing (you may not select TIFF for this
exercise). Look at their mission statement/philosophy. What differences do you find in the way
the two festivals describe, promote and identify themselves?
Instructions
I recommend that you start by selecting your festivals and make notes on their mission
statements, then read chapter 4 of the course text (when it becomes available) before you
complete the assignment.
Your response should critically analyse the language used in the festival descriptions using
terminology and concepts from the course. References and quotations taken from the website
should be kept to a minimum but clearly indicated. You do not need to use outside sources for
this assignment but you are required to make use of the course textbook and concepts
discussed in class.
