Film Analysis Assignment

Film Analysis

Every scene of a film is loaded with information – evidence of the film’s meanings. Select one or two scenes from a single film – Memento, Pan’s Labyrinth, Boys Don’t Cry, or Brokeback Mountain – and write a detailed analysis of the way the scene or pair of scenes is constructed to yield a meaningful interpretation. Consider how the various elements – acting, camerawork, dialogue, editing, lighting, mis-en-scène, music and other sounds – are used to develop the meaning, and use the scene as a lens to focus your interpretation of the film as a whole.
