Atticus Finch of Harper Lee's To Kill A Mockingbird Essay

According to the book, Finch, a resident of Maycomb County, which is also a fictional country in Alabama, is a lawyer and the father of two kids named Jeremy and Jean. Apparently, Lee established the characteristics of Finch on those of his father, Coleman Lee. Most of the trials taken from Coleman were highly publicized, just as people that are accepted by Finch.
In the novel, Finch is described as a strong individual with a very powerful character. Finch can also be described as a person who’s never afraid to put his own life in danger while defending the rights of blacks that were accused. Not only did the cases put his life at risk but the cases also posed a huge threat to his career. These risks, however, did not seem to frighten away Finch who worked hard on the highly publicized and controversial cases.
Finch’s personality is that of an individual that actively pursues justice and demonstrates good examples of a scout. The character also demonstrates the importance of ethics and just how important it’s to be prepared to sacrifice everything that one has in pursuit of this truth and also in search of justice. It is like Lee admired his dad so much he decided to illustrate what he thought of his dad in the publication. Lee, through Finch’s character, seems to be teaching the audience that as soon as they believe in something, they shouldn’t be afraid to go after everything, whatever the consequences.
Among the most popular quotations in the novel is that which says that “one can never really understand an individual until one begins considering the situation at hand from the view of the person. It is not until you climb into an individual’s skin and walks about inside that one will realize that person.” In this quotation, Finch is apparently giving an important piece of advice to Scout when she experiences an extremely hard time while in school. The quotation is meant to help Scout return to college even though she’d made up her mind never to go back to school.
The other popular quotation is “the 1 thing that does not follow the majority of what’s accepted by people is an individual’s conscience.” That is a famous quote in the book because it supplies a piece of information that a lot of folks can use by directly applying it to their own scenarios. Fundamentally, Finch is saying that people should learn how to accept the reality there are particular things that happen in life that we cannot do anything about and should therefore not fight them learn to accept them as they are.
