LO1: Appraise the concept of entrepreneurship and its role in social and economic development

Assignment Brief:

The first piece of assessment is a 2000 word individual essay where you will need to appraise entrepreneurship as a concept and analyse its role in social and economic development. Types and forms of enterprise activity will compared and contrasted. 

You will be making reference to the University of Bolton on-line library and other accessible e-journal sources to write a well-researched essay.

Guidelines:

You need to produce a well-researched, referenced essay.  Make use of Harvard System of referencing in both elements of the assignment.

 

 

Secondary Research Level HE5 – It is expected that the Reference List will contain between five and ten sources. As a MINIMUM the Reference List should include one refereed academic journals and two academic book

Specific Assessment Criteria

 

Distinction (70% and above)

 

A cohesive, comprehensive and critical synthesis of the concept of Entrepreneurship will be provided. The role of entrepreneurship will be expertly elicited. Extensive research demonstrating use of a wide range of current secondary research sources will be evident in comparing and contrasting the different types and forms of enterprise activities. Referencing and English will be excellent. 

 

Merit (60-69%)

 

A clear and critical synthesis of the concept of Entrepreneurship will be provided. A good research demonstrating use of a range of current secondary research sources will be evident in comparing and contrasting the different types and forms of enterprise activities. Referencing and English will be good. 

 

Pass (50%-59%)

 

A critical synthesis of the concept of Entrepreneurship will be provided. A clearly summarised and justified presentation on the different types and forms of enterprise activities. Research demonstrating use of a range of current secondary research sources will be evident. Referencing and English will be satisfactory. 

 

Fail (Below 40%)

 

Students who do not meet the requirements of the Pass criteria will not successfully complete the assessment activity.
