ESSAY III – RESEARCH
This three-four page essay should be typed in 12 pt. font, double-spaced, and have standard one-inch margins. Your name, professor’s name, class, and due date should be placed in the upper left-hand corner of the first page.
The essay’s introductory paragraph should contain a “hook”, clearly stated points of development, and a concise thesis. There should be body paragraphs, each with a topic sentence that limits the subject to be covered. In the conclusion, students should draw connections between their main points of argument.
Student must use at least FIVE SOURCES, only three of which can be found electronically, and they must have proper MLA documentation for their sources. Cite Your Sources. Five Sources, only three can be from the internet. You must have both In-text or Parenthetical citations and a corresponding Works Cited page.
In grading, special attention will be given to the following:

Ø Consider how religion is portrayed in the NPR audio article. Are these accurate depictions of the influence of religion? Why or why not? Are there other instances that you can find through research that would either support or reject your argument? Use the NPR audio article as support for your argument.
Ø Using the NPR audio article as support for your argument, what is wrong with cheaters and liars? According to Bering, “a belief in God serves a very important purpose: Religious beliefs set us on the path to modern life by stopping cheaters and promoting the social good.” According to Johnson, “Even a few cheats undermine cooperation.” What do they mean? Topic Based on Spike Jonze’s film Her
Ø Her explores the boundary between the virtual and the real. Jonze’s film doesn’t make technology the focus. Rather, he’s interested in alienation, and the role that technology plays in reconstructing love, desire and identity. Conduct research on this and present a case as to how technology affects, and will continue to affect, the social constructs of love, desire and one’s identity.
