Research Paper-Nature and Causes of Trauma

Nature and Causes of Trauma

Utilizing information presented in this course, as well as theoretical and practical elements from academic sources, compile an original paper of at least 12–15 pages of body text, in current APA style, which summarizes your understanding of the nature and causes of trauma in general, as well as one specific type of trauma in particular. Address factors necessary for successfully coping with the effects of trauma, and spiritual and professional approaches to treatment.  Key components are: 1) description of dynamics/symptoms common in your population of interest; 2) best practices in how first responders respond to the mental health crisis needs of the population; 3) spiritual applications/interventions.

Note: This is a crisis course so do not go into general counseling or therapy issues. Focus only on acute interventions of the type and severity that would require first responder intervention on a short-term basis.

Tip: Do not float into areas that aren’t directly related to (mental health) crisis care. Avoid discussion of medical interventions (medications/treatments), community prevention, legal issues, etc. We only have a few pages to discuss mental health care so make good use of it by staying within our course curriculum. Ask in advance if you are unsure.
