You will find those incidences that occur in life that are so memorable they continue to linger in one’s thoughts; however, such events usually leave a permanent mark in the lives of individuals and give lessons that must not be erased by any other experience in everyday life. My memory event happened several years ago when, due to my curiosity, I decided to accompany my grandfather to the hospital. He had visited the hospital on many occasions to seek treatment but his condition was not getting any better. Finally, his physician told him the only treatment left was to go for an eye operation as a way of trying to correct the abnormality with his eye. As it was a weekend and I didn’t have any classes that day and did not have any other duties, I thought it’d be a good idea to accompany my cousin into the hospital rather than stay at home and be bored. The tight connection that had grown between my grandfather and me made it quite simple for me to accompany him, despite the fear I had of hospitals and operations in general.
Fortunately, there were a number of helpful nurses available to provide any assistance that my grandfather took and the physicians were quite friendly. The nurses felt the high level of nervousness that both my grandfather and I were feeling and talked to us so nicely that we ended up relaxing and perceiving the surgery as something ordinary and nothing to worry about. It was not long before my grandfather and I felt relaxed and ready for the operation, as we forgot that the large degree of anxiety we had felt just a few moments before. I have always had this fear of doctors and injections, as well as I started to relax, ideas of the impending operation could not escape my mind because I understood the operation would be more serious than the injections I dreaded so much.
Interestingly, the whole operation lasted only an hour and my grandfather was wheeled out of this surgery with a bandage about the operated eye, but he was conscious and in very high spirits. I cannot forget the look on my grandfather’s face and the sensation of relief that he uttered, understanding that the problem with his eye was finally finished. At the very moment, my fear of doctors vanished and I began appreciating the significant role that doctors play in everyday life. That is the moment I decided that I wanted to become a doctor and, now, I am pursuing a path in medicine.
Remember that the events in your essay have to be set in chronological order. Otherwise, it is going to not be easy for the readers to follow your own story. In addition to that, it is better if your story has a goal. Sometimes, simple retelling of specific events is not sufficient for a large school.
