Also, communication systems within organisations will be critically examined and you will gain an understanding of the legal frameworks surrounding the recording of information about people.

You are working in a day care setting for service users with a variety of disabilities. As a senior care worker within the setting, you have been asked by your line manager, to provide materials, to support new employees.

Your line manager has asked you to prepare and deliver a presentation to be used as part of the induction process for new staff to explore how communication skills are used in health and social care.  

Prior to the delivery of your presentation, you must submit the following:

• your research notes

• a copy of the presentation
• a bibliography of all sources consulted

When presenting your work you must include the following:

• a PowerPoint presentation, with accompanying notes
• a handout for attending delegates
• an opportunity for extended discussion which includes attending delegates.

There are a variety of factors that can influence communication in Health and social care, your manager has asked that you provide written information for new employees, on the influence of values and cultures, legislation, charters and codes of practice and how they can impact on the communication process.

You should include reference to current, including updated, legislation in essay format.

As a senior care worker, your manager has asked that you produce a report, to be included in ‘the new employees induction pack’, which must include:

• an exploration of standard ICT software packages used in health and social care, to include an

analytical explanation of the benefits of using ICT and how legal considerations in the use of ICT impact on health and social care.
