When answering discussion board questions, I am less concerned with your actual position and more concerned with how well you defend the position you have taken. Personal experiences, television/media, or what you were raised to believe have very good value. However, those viewpoints have limits in an academic setting. When writing professionally, what is crucial is that your position(s) is/are based on facts, research, assigned readings, etc. When writing your post, it should be clear that you have a proper foundation for your position. If you do not demonstrate a proper foundation for your position, it will result in a lower grade for your posting. Beginning a posting with the phrase “In my opinion” or “I think” is unacceptable.

In every response, you should incorporate the material from the assigned text reading(s). In addition, you are not limited to only the assigned reading; you are encouraged to read and incorporate material from other scholarly articles and academic books. Wikipedia and Biz-dictionary.com etc., will not be accepted as credible references. Your posts should never simply be a cut and paste of someone else’s words”even if it appears in quotes and has the website listed as a reference. Quoted materials should never be more than 20% of your entire post (measured in words). Instead, summarize the main points and provide the web link.

That way, it’s clear you understand how the topic relates to our discussion and others interested in learning more can visit the website you have provided. Due to utilizing material from academic readings in your response, you need to utilize in-text citations and provide a reference list consistent with APA or MLA requirements. If you do not include citations in your response, it will read as your personal opinion with no foundation, meaning you will earn a zero. Please ensure the following when referencing: Author name(s) and date of publication are included in in-text citations; Author name(s), date of publication, and page number are included for all quotes. Proper use of et al., when necessary
