Political science present a profile of an American city.

Please look at the attached file for instructions, Please choose Miami as the designated city for this paper and talk about Old people and drugs from the five boroughs and you could use other three from your experience. The paper must be 6 pages long and the citations is the 7th. You could write up to 8 pages and that is fine too.

ASSIGNMENT DETAILS:

The first assignment will be to present a profile of an American city. I’ll accept any major or minor city in the U.S. other than New York City; students may, however, profile one of its five burroughs. The profile should introduce the city to a reader unacquainted with it: its size, (brief) history, geographic location, demographics, and politics should be included at a minimum. Building from there, I am looking for information related to historical or current challenges: think about finances, environmental problems, service provision, poverty, crime, etc. You may include as many or as few of these as you wish. Focus on what you find interesting or compelling, to induce interest in the reader. At the end, the reader should feel comfortable knowledgeable about the city and its circumstances.

 

DUE DATE AND LATE POLICY:

Please submit a hard copy of your paper at the beginning of class on the date discussed in class. Assignments handed in more than TEN MINUTES AFTER the scheduled start of class will be counted as late. Unless otherwise personally arranged and agreed upon previously, papers up to one week late will be deducted one full letter grade; papers later than one week will not be accepted.

 

SOURCES AND STYLE:

Please do not submit less than six full pages – Times New Roman, 12 pt. font, 1 in. margins, not including a required works cited page. A number of sources should be used – at least six to eight. Sources should be reputable; personal blogs, except for those of very high-profile persons, are usually unacceptable. Wikipedia is an excellent starting point for your own research, but should be present in the final product in any way; no information from Wikipedia is citable, and any information from Wikipedia included in your paper must be cited from a different source. Any citation style is acceptable, as long as it is comprehensive and consistent. Plagiarism will be dealt with as harshly as possible.

 

GRAMMAR AND SPELLING:

Grammar and spelling are essential qualities of all college work. I strongly suggest that you read your own work aloud to yourself, to ensure that your wording and arguments flow correctly. Please especially be aware of and avoid informal language (contractions, the phrase “a lot,” and all instances of speaking in the first person – except, of course, in quotes from appropriate sources). Please also be certain never to create a plural by using an apostrophe. Early copies of the paper may be submitted to me for comments or consideration; however, there is no guarantee that I will be able to attend to your work in a timely fashion, especially as the due date grows closer.
