It is a brilliant (if difficult!) work on the Divine Proportion (the Fibonacci sequence, which he doesn’t directly name). Don’t worry if you don’t follow all of it – that’s not the point. What you need to do is to discuss how his treatise illustrates the gradual shift from the religious Renaissance into the more practical Scientific Revolution of the 17-18th centuries. Focus on this question alone – write your thesis first, including three ways in which his work shows that shift, and then write your essay from that point. The thesis will help you stay focused on the question itself, rather than getting off on a fascinating but unrelated tangent!
You will need to write a 5 paragraph essay, so you will need three major points (not two, not four!!) to discuss in your paper. Don’t forget to cite any pertinent material properly, as that will count towards your grade. Do NOT plagiarize, remember, you MUST cite any quoted or paraphrased material.
